MUSICAL THEATER
|
Musical theatre has been a passion of mine since childhood. As a theater kid, I spent my early years playing Disney and Broadway tunes. After graduating college, I began networking with Broadway musicians, which eventually led to my first gig as a substitute pianist for Disney's Mary Poppins. I also played rehearsals for Matilda and The King and I. In 2015, I had the incredible opportunity to both conduct and play keys for the world premiere of Dear Evan Hansen at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. That same year, I played rehearsals for the original Broadway cast of Hamilton. More recently, I musical directed and conducted A Chorus Line at the University of Notre Dame and La Cage aux Folles at South Bend Civic Theatre. For both productions, I was honored with nominations for BroadwayWorld 2024 Best Musical Direction and Orchestra Performance.
I wrote my dissertation on Stephen Sondheim and his collaborations with orchestrators Jonathan Tunick and Michael Starobin. My fascination with Sondheim has spanned every stage of his career, and I find his artistic journey particularly compelling due to the diverse influences that shaped his unique musical style. |
